American Tenor, Kenneth Morris, spent 6 seasons at the Metropolitan Opera from 1998 to 2008 – Ken’s debut at the Met Opera was in 1998 as the Messenger in Aida, conducted by Placido Domingo. Ken performed as the Messenger at the Met for two seasons.

Other roles at the Met included Doctor Faustus (Busoni), The Gambler, War & Peace, and Tannhauser.

His debut at the New York City Opera came in 2001 in The Ballad of Baby Doe (Sam). Subsequent roles included Normanno, Lucia di Lammermoor, Silas Pompton, The Glass Blowers, Pang Turandot.

With the San Diego Opera, Messenger in Aida. In 2006, as Normanno in Lucia di Lammermoor, conducted by Richard Bonynge; and, The First Armored Man in The Magic Flute.

Mr. Morris has appeared frequently in regional houses as Canio in Pagliacci, Pinkerton in Butterfly, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana, and Don Jose in Carmen, Rodolfo in La Boheme.

In recent years, Mr. Morris has headed up the non-profit Palm Springs Opera Guild, as it’s Board President, and he remains active teaching and performing in a variety of concerts, including the Opera Guild’s 2015 Opera in The Park, as well as various concerts at the Rancho Mirage Library. In 2010, Mr. Morris mounted a benefit performance for the Opera Guild.

Also, Mr. Morris has served as a preliminary judge since 2012 for the Palm Springs Opera Guild’s Annual Vocal Competition, hearing anywhere from 90 to 130 singers each year, selecting the 8 finalists for each year’s competition with prizes totaling over $ 40,000.

More recently, Mr. Morris has served as a Finals Judge for the Zachary Vocal Competition (2022/2023); and, as a finals judge for the Palm Springs Opera Guild’s prestigious Vocal Competition (2022/2023)
